How to Use Your Phone as a Modem

Hii everyone, We Have all been there , scouting around for a wi-fi  hotspot or a wired connection with our laptops ,eager to hook up to the internet. working in Mcdonalds or a college shop is not always ideal, especially if you can not stomach the cost of paying for an expensive coffee or hanging around in a smelly burger joint with your expensive equipment.

In this situations and where you simply can not find a hotspot or internet connection, you can tether your phone . This means you use your phone as a wifi hotspot or medern and so all internet data is routed from your phone to your computer and back again.

Tethering on Android lets you share your data connection with up to five other devices and it is built in to any phones that are using 2.2(froyo) and higher . you should not in general be chraged for this either although some carriers do so it worth checking . What will happen is that your data could be eaten away but as long as you bear that in mind you will find that is a great solution of those non-wi-fi situations.

• To get started , Press the menu button on your android phone 
• and Tap the setting Icon
• Select the wireless and networks option on setting screen
• you will be in the tethering area and so you will be able to share your mobile data connection with another device
• To set up and manage a portable wi-fi hotspot, tick the option next to portable wi-fi hotspot
• After a short time it will open up a connection for you and act like a wireless access point.
• To protect your connection , tap on the portable wi-fi hotspot setting and give your network a name then tap on security . type in a password on the secure settings.
